Sowacs
is an acronymn for Soil Water Content Sensors and
Measurement
- The Soil Water Content Sensor discussion group contents are
archived here. This page contains information on the various methods of
measuring the soil water content in situ, but concentrates on automated
electronic sensors that can be continuously logged with dataloggers.
An email discussion list named sowacs is currently operating, and
this serves as the main source of content and feedback for these pages.
Please subscribe to the list if you
are interested. There are around 300 to 400 members [as at March 1998]
made up of researchers, commercial suppliers and "users" of the
equipment. As such there is a fairly balanced but good response to
queries posed on the list.
-
It has since 1994 become one of a few fairly
well-known sources of information on the web
The discussion and this archive were started by myself, Bruce
Metelerkamp (brooz@pobox.com) in 1994, whilst employed at the Institute
For Commercial Forestry Research, South Africa. I have since emigrated
to New Zealand, and you can find my personal homepages at
www.pobox.com/~brooz.
The list and web pages were completey rewritten when www.sowacs.com
in 1999. Support in the form of covering the hosting costs have kindly
been met by Campbell Scientifc Inc. since then.
The site's look was modernised to its current look in 2001.
