The workshop will be held from 10 to 12 April 2000 in Trento at the Faculty of Engineering. This event is supported by TC6 the ISSMGE Technical Committee on Unsaturated Soils. WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES The Workshop on Unsaturated Soils is intended to be a forum for postgraduate and post-doctoral researchers to exchange experiences about new advances and developments in this field. It is hoped that the relatively informal nature of the meeting will stimulate discussion, exchange of new ideas, and debate on fundamental topics. Postgraduate and post-doctoral researchers from different universities have been invited to present their work. In line with the aims of the workshop, special importance will be given to discussions. After each presentation, 30 minutes will be devoted to questions, remarks, and comments. In each session two discussion leaders, who would have previously reviewed the papers, will also stimulate discussion by raising specific questions.
