Fourth Conference on "Electromagnetic Wave Interaction with Water and Moist
Substances" in Weimar Germany in May 20th...23rd 2001

The workshop will address all problems relevant to both physical concepts
and technological aspects of practical implementation of microwave and
RF measurement techniques for determining the amount of water in moist
substances, the dielectric and magnetic material properties and other
physical values. The workshop will concentrate on, but is not limited to,
the following subjects:

* Dielectric properties of water in various degrees of binding
* Dielectric relaxation properties of water in biological substances and
tissue
* Static and dynamic moisture content determination in grain and
agricultural products
* Quality determination of foodstuffs
* Moisture content determination in soil, snow and on waste disposals
* Dielectric and magnetic material properties
* TDR-, RF and microwave sensors for moisture content determination in
solids and liquids
  (Applications in process and civil engineering, chemical industry,
pharmaceutical
  industry, oil and coal industry etc.)
* Metrological basis for multiparameter moisture content measurements
* Determination of other physical values, such as density, mass, consistency,
  concentration, composition, etc.
* Application of mixing rules; simulation of electromagnetic waves
penetrating lossy
  dielectrics
* applications by using EM-Software
* Microwave spectrometry, medical applications, etc.
* Standardization of measuring methods

Contributed papers describing original work, as well as short notes and
comments on the topics listed above, are solicited, but any paper concerned
with application and utilization of RF and microwave techniques for moisture
content determination and control can be appropriate and will be considered
for presentation. Deadline for submission of up to one-page abstracts:
November 1, 2000. Camera-ready copies of the accepted presentations (8-10
pages
with drawings) should be submitted before the end of February, 2001.
All materials will be published in the workshop-proceedings. Manufacturers of
moisture measurement instrumentation, RF- and microwave sensors to the related
topics are invited for a scientific exhibition of their products. More
details
about our institute, the workshop, Weimar, and possible accomodations can be
retrieved at our web-page. The detailed program of the workshop will be
published
at the same site in December.

For paper submission and interest for exhibition, please contact the
organizer.
The best papers will be published in an expanded form in a book!

Deadline for Abstract Submission: November 1, 2000
