I have been searching for some industry statistics on the total number 
of each soil moisture monitoring method being used in the world 
(i.e. estimated no. of tensiometers in use). If possible could you 
please steer me in the right direction to source this information.

I have some fantastic information from the Farm and Ranch Survey 1998
covering the methods used in deciding when to irrigate for the United
States which you may be familiar with.

I will keep you updated on any other information I uncover.
