Bruce:
It turns out that the manufacturer's "Sold" summations over the years will
not help in the quest for Number in Use.  I personally have seen easily
2,000 devices moth-balled or shelved, due to many reasons.
I would think the first challenge would be enumerating all the consultants
out there who use such SMM methods.
