Yes and no! We tried the development version of the Profile Probe last
summer and I had an MSc student test it. Unfortunately the outcome was
disappointing, but as a result, Delta-T have significantly re-designed the
instrument. I have not had a chance to play with the new one.

In principle it is a very attractive alternative to the neutron probe, but
suffers from the limitation of all capacitance methods that the field of
influence is very small, so it is susceptible to disturbance of the soil
caused during installation of the access tube.
