SAGEEP 2002 CALL FOR PAPERS http://www.eegs.org/call_for_papers.htm
February 10 - 13 Las Vegas , Nevada
The Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS) invites you to
submit a paper for presentation at the 2002 Symposium on the Application of
Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems (SAGEEP 2002). In
addition to world class oral and poster presentations on the application
and recent developments in applied geophysics, there will be a suite of
workshops, as well as an exhibition showcasing geophysical products and
services.
Under the able direction of Dr. Ken Zonge, General Chair, and Dr. Mary
Poulton, Technical Chair, a program is being organized to further the
knowledge and understanding as well as improve the skills of the attendees
with regard to the application of geophysical methods to engineering and
environmental problems. With this in mind, we request papers that
present your recent experience in utilization of geophysics or that informs
the customer of geophysical data, instrumentation, or services of the
recent advances and refinements in the discipline. The presentation of
case histories is encouraged. While suggestions for session topics are
welcome, the following topics are being planned:
Abandoned Mine Lands Airborne Geophysics
Archeology Borehole Logging
Brown Fields Assessment Contaminant Studies
Data Integration, Visualization, Processing Extreme Geophysics Electrical
and Electromagnetic Methods Forensic Geophysics
Geophysical Data and GIS Geotechnical Engineering
Ground Penetrating Radar Groundwater Exploration and Protection
Infrastructure Studies Lakes, Rivers, and Offshore Surveys
Landfill Characterization and Monitoring Mapping Voids and Cavities
Mine Site Characterization and Monitoring Radioactive Waste Disposal
Fracture Mapping Seismic Surface Waves
Seismic Reflection Developments Subsidence
Subsurface Imaging in 3D Toxic Waste Management & Mitigation
UXO and Land Mine Detection Vibration Monitoring
Several of the technical sessions will be geared towards the
non-geophysical practitioner or researcher. For these sessions, we are
seeking case histories in areas of civil engineering, geolog‚ical
engineering, mining engineering, infrastructure assessment, brown fields
assessment, and groundwater hydrology.
Abstracts, not to exceed 200 words, are due no later than July 20, 2001 and
should include a title with the authors, name, address, affiliation,
telephone and numbers, as well as an e-mail address. If accepted, full
manuscripts will be required by December 31, 2001 for oral and poster
presentations. Please indicate your presentation preference: oral or
poster. Also indicate if you would like to be a session chair. Authors
will be required to sign a Transfer of Copyright Form for publication of
full manuscripts into the SAGEEP Proceedings. Submit your abstract as
hard-copy, or electronically to:
