A reply to Fatih
From: Roberto Aringhieri <aringhieri@ict.pi.cnr.it>
Dear Fatih,
( I sent this message directly to Fatih by e-mail, unfortunately without
success.)
I am sorry for the delay of my answer, but I have read your message just
yesterday.
Concerning your question, there is a relationship between bulk
soil electrical conductivity s and pore water electrical conductivity sw,
and volumetric water content W. (Rhoades et al. 1976; Soil Sci Soc. Am. J.,
40 : 651-655).
s = sw W T(W)+ ss
Where: s = bulk electrical conductivity of the soil as measured by the
four-electrode probe.
sw = pore water electrical conductivity
W = volumetric water content
ss 0 electrical conductivity of the solid phase
T = transmission coefficient, which depends linearly on the water
content:
T(W) = aW + b
a and b are empirical constant calculated experimentally.
Next week I'll send you some other information and literature on this
subject by air mail.
Let me know please about receiving this message.
Regards
Aringhieri Roberto
