I came across a fairly old webpage that describes a
capacitive sensor as used by R¸diger Kaufmann :
http://zoology.uibk.ac.at/terrestrik/kaufmann/rk_sens.html

It describes a "home made" sensor complete with design schematic,
connected to a Hobo logger, for use in Alpine research. Can it really
be this easy?!?

The 3 page pdf describes it in more detail, and is made by CYCLOBIOS,
Dreiheiligenstr.1a, A-6020 Innsbruck, Austria, Austrian Patent AT403213B, © Cyclobios 1997
(CYCLOBIOS, is "a cooperative of people from our department who make scientific equipment available to other
researchers." Institut f¸r Zoologie und Limnologie, Technikerstrasse
25, A-6020 Innsbruck, Austria

Has anyone seen or heard or perhaps used such a thing?
