Dear Bruce,
Dr. J. Bilskie has beautifully and accurately expressed the dependency of
the CS616 pulse attenuation on the different causes (OMC, BD, EC, %Clay)
which determine the its degree.
On the other hand, I would expect him to support his observation ("My
observations show that the CS616 is a time domain device") by data.
But the last sentence of his letter worries me most.
If I am not mistaken, the EM pulse rise time is the primary factor in
determining the accuracy of the Ka measurements.
If the risetime of the CS616 is a couple (2?-5?) of nanoseconds than it is
at least
AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE
longer (and therefore less curate) compared to the TEK1502 or the TDR-100
(which is basically based on the 1502).
