Jason D. Emiliusen writes to the sowacs list: ===8<============== I am involved in a design project where we are drying fruits(like apples) and we need to know the moisture content of the shredded fruit throughtout the drying process. I was wondering if a soil moisture meter would work for this application or if anyone knew of something that would work. Thanks. [Bruce comments I will be interested to hear of other users' replies to this, as it may well be possible that some of the simpler ready-to-use sensors could be put to this use. However, there are two more suitable products listed on my new website under the categories Moisture Content : hay Moisture Content : grain/seed Environmental Sensors Inc. (ESI) supplies the GroáPointú which is designed for just this function. Measure Instruments: MI-7 - Moisture analyser with interchangeable sensors and programmable. SH-7 - Moisture, temperature and weight sensor for grains, powders, granules and triturated product. SH-6 - Moisture sensor for bales of hay cubes, silopack, soils, cotton cubes and grains. SH-5 - Moisture sensor for hay row, woods, paper, cheeses, granules and powders. SH-3 - Moisture and temperature sensor for soils and grounds. ST-2 - Temperature sensor for soils, liquids, hay cubes and grains. Admittedly these are unusual requirements (from a soil point of view:), and there are not many suppliers yet listed on these pages...
