Re: Resurrecting the Gypsum Block for Soil Moisture Measurement

After several requests for more info on the Cary paper:

>John Cary wrote a paper a few years back (in an Ag. Eng. journal) that provided
a temperature correction. But it was a major correction.

"James B Sisson"<JYS@inel.gov> said the following:

Cary, J.W. 1981. Irrigation scheduling with soil instruments: Error levels
and microprocessor design criteria. Trans. of the ASAE. the notes I have
indicate "..to be published in the booklet of the TASAE on Irr. Scheduling
conference in Dec. '81".
I have a copy of the paper that was submitted but I do not have the actual
pub.

I have not seen any other pub.s on temperature effects on Gyp blocks.
There is a growing body of temperature effects on TDR estimated water
content. I would contact Dani Orr at Utah State or John Wraith at Montana
State for the latest papers in that area.
