My name is Scott Matyac, and I have been a regular sowacs "lurker" for several months now. I am posting on behalf of my colleague, Tom Hawkins. Tom recently prepared a section on agricultural irrigation technology for the current update of the California Water Plan. During our public review period, he received a comment that "devices which utilize magnetic resonance which are gaining in popularity are not discussed". Although we are aware of the use of magnetic resonance in medical and industrial imaging, we have not seen or read about it's use in irrigation scheduling. It is not clear from the comment whether the author was referring to plant- or soil-based monitoring. We would appreciate any insight sowacs members might offer on this subject. [Bruce comments: I may be on the wrong track - but there is a page from the sowacs archives on water conditioning by magnetising water... see the NEW section of sowacs.com: http://www.sowacs.com/new/magnet.html The generall consensus was that this is unexplained or, worse, false hope!] Thanks. -Scott ---------------------------------------------------------------- J.
