     Field curves should work if soil is very heterogeneous (or use many 
reps as below -- all reps should be at same depth as this relationship 
will vary) and take much care in installation (microvariability can kill it). 
Can be done with small samples in lab for low (very negative) tensions using 
chamber. Still need to do tension table/plate extraction for high tensions 
(0-2 bars).
