Daryl, For moisture sensors that are compatible with SCADA technology, I would like to introduce you to the new, Gro-Point Soil Moisture Sensor, manufactured by Environmental Sensors, Inc. in Victoria, BC, Canada. This sensor is based on TDT technology which is very similar to our Moisture-Po int TDR system that has been on the market for about four years. One major difference is that Gro-Point is much less expensive. Complete sensors retail at US$241.00 and we have a full line of low cost accessories. A display unit is $261.00, a waterproof three channel data logger is $299 and a data shuttle is $159.00. Output, direct from the sensor is 0.5 - 5mA (can easily be converted to 0.25 - 2.5 volt by addition of a 500 ohm resister). Output is equivalent to 0-50% soil moisture by volume. Sensor output is linear between 5% and 50%. This output is compatible with SCADA standards. We will be happy to provide technical assistance on the connection. Gro-Point is very accurate at +/- 1% soil moisture by volume. The accuracy is maintained in soil types from fine sands through clays (clays with <50% clay particles). For course sand and clays (with >50 clay) we recommend our Gro-Point extended range sensor, which has larger sensing elements. Accuracy is maintained in salinity to 6 dS/m. I will be happy to provide more information, please E-mail me at jwindscheffel @esica.com. You should also check our corporate web site at: www.esica.com. Also a new web site for Irrigation Moisture Sensors, Irrigation Controllers and Moisture Management at: www.envsens.com (this web site will not be operating until the end of this week, check it on March 15).
