Hello Albie,

Yes, you are correct, a capacitance probe (similar to Enviroscan) has been
developed to work with the Adcon Weather Station you have purchased.

The "C-Probe" is manufactured in Australia under license from the C-Probe
Corporation of California. Agrilink Holdings is the Master Distributor for
the C-Probe as well as the Adcon Telemetry Weather Stations in Australia,
New Zealand and South Africa .

The probe is a relatively new product, however there have been a large
number of units already installed in South Africa by the local Adcon and
C-Probe distributor (Agrotop).

Unfortunately your information is not quite correct, in that you do not need
to purchase a separate transmission device as the C-Probe can connect
directly to your weather station. If a grower does not already own an Adcon
Weather Station they can purchase an "addIT" micro-telemetry device with
which to transmit the soil moisture data back to a local network or their
own independent base station.

The aim in the development of the C-Probe was to be able to connect to
Adcon's existing range of products (Weather Stations) as well as their new
products being released (addIT's) and those currently under development for
future release.

The cost of the C-Probe is lower than the cost of a comparable specification
Enviroscan probe.

Further information (including local pricing) should be gained from the
South African distributor:
