I am looking for a simple to install and read sensor for soil moisture that is accurate in soils with ECe ranges up to 7dS/m under irrigation water with ECw up to 3.5 dS/m. Price is also a consideration. The climate is arid, all crop season moisture comes from irrigation. We have tried capacitance sensors and found a very wide range of results, which are unusable. Maybe we had the wrong ones? We are now looking at the WaterMark sensor, it meets our installation, reading, and cost criteria but wonder if it will work satisfactorily under the soil water constraints. Comments from anyone who has used sensors under similar conditions, what works and what doesn't, would be appreciated. Thanks Ross E.
