I found this while surfing a while back.  I have no additional 
information on it (such as whether it really works...).

[Hmm.. interesting webpage, thanks for the link - where should it appear on
sowacs?
 I suppose with experience of hay making, and by staying with one simple
sensor, a relative measurement of moisture could be a useful indicator of
whether the hay is ready to bale.. Any more scientific and hay sounds like a
minefield to me...
