Dear list members,
I apologize because this is really a novice question, but I would like to
receive suggestions on whether it is acceptable or not to leave vertical
probes into the soil and take eg. daily/weekly TDR readings by attaching the
coaxial cables and the Tektronix tester. I have seen people doing this, but
I have been strongly warned by TDR experts that repeatedly attaching the
cables and consequently causing little movements of the probes, plus
possible water preferential flow along the rods, might invalidate the results.
Since inserting the probes into the ground each day (with several depths and
replications) might prove not feasable, would the error be acceptable by
leaving them into the ground for a week or so and then changing position
after that time?
Thank you
Raffaele
