          Have you thought of Fiberglas blocks or heat dissipation 
          units? These are both quite inexpensive and can be usedwith 
          an existing datalogger.

Fellow readers
          
I am trying to determine which is the most suitable method for 
assessing soil moisture on a biweekly to weekly basis.  TDR and
NP are not suitable because of their cost.  We are hopefully after 
some sort of tensiometer which is very easy to use and givesreliable 
and easily interpreted results.  Any sugestions.
