I think not. Explanations... " Let me try one... There is a similarity between Radar and acoustical shockwaves in the way that both spread by similar physical principals. Both are damped by material properties and can be reflected at layers of different material properties: in the case of Radar the dielectric constant, with shockwaves density and others. TDR is different in the way that the waves are guided along the electrodes and are reflected at their end while the other waves travel freely in the material. TDR mesures the average material properties between the electrodes, while Radar and shockwaves detect 'sharp' changes in material properties. So I see the stronger similarity between shockwaves and Radar. Think about (military) submarines/aeroplanes: what they do with their active sonar/ active Radar is very similar. best regards :-) Martin
