Introduces Adcon's Wireless Capacitance Probe the C-Probe.
The C-Probe is a soil moisture-monitoring device that records volumetric soil moisture data using capacitance sensors. The C-Probe is specifically designed to connect into the Adcon Telemetry wireless networks using the A720 addIT mini-transceivers. This eliminates the installation costs and problems associated with older systems that require expansive lengths of cable throughout the monitoring site.

An introduction to Automata's AQUA-TEL94 and AQUA-TEL-TDR soil moisture sensors.
The Aqua-tel94 comes in 5 inch and 29 inch length, with the option of soil temperature, soil salinity, or both.
The AQUA-TEL-TDR TDR based sensor has a measuring range on the sensor of 18 inches resulting in a more representative sample. The exposed part of the sensor is constructed primarily of epoxy which means that in saline soils, the TDR sensor will operate in up to 20,000 µS conductivity. Read more..

An introduction to Delta-T's sensors and loggers for soil water
measurement (and a glimpse of the wider range of environmental science
products that they offer).
The best known Delta-T sensor in the Feature is undoubtedly the
ThetaProbe type ML2x. The Feature includes our newest sensor, the SigmaProbe type EC1. It provides the only known method of sampling the conductivity of pore
water directly in the soil - and it's portable.

A compendium of replies to a post on sowacs recently: entitled Email replies to responses to unsaturated soil sampling, there are several useful references to newly published literature, older literature, current work as well as pointers to sensors designed to accomplish this task. A few provisos and words of warning may also be of use to anyone interested in this difficult field of measurement.
NEW! Dec 2002.. Pavement moisture monitoring. The ThetaProbes were located under an existing pavement (actually installed from the sides) with cables running to the roadside data logger which also had temperature measurement. Read more..
