FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

June 25, 2003

The Irrometer Company, Inc. of Riverside, CA is pleased to introduce the Watermark Monitor. This new addition to their line of soil moisture measurement and control equipment automatically reads and records Watermark sensors. This data-logging device will record up to eight sensor inputs. The user can select from Watermark soil moisture sensors, soil temperature sensors and/or switch closure sensors for each of the input ports. Readings are taken automatically according to the users selected frequency and stored for future reference.

Software is included, which is used to program the Monitor and download the collected readings. The battery powered Watermark Monitor can be easily field mounted. Real-time soil moisture readings can be displayed in the field with the press of a button. Accumulated data is downloaded for graphical display on a personal computer.

Soil Moisture Scheduling is a widely recognized method of efficiently scheduling irrigating for both agricultural croplands as well as urban landscapes. Using the new Watermark Monitor, the irrigation manager can more easily see the trends of soil moisture in the root zones being managed. The users, and our environment, benefit from the conservation of water, energy and the reduction in leaching of applied nutrients. The user also benefits with healthier plant material, increased yields, better quality and labor savings.

Design details, including specification drawings in AutoCAD format, are available for irrigation designers to add this level of efficiency to their systems. The Irrometer Company, Inc. has been providing soil moisture measurement instrumentation to the irrigation industry since 1951.
