Subject:Soil water sensors
Dear Mr. Bruce Metelerkamp
Thank you for mail.
I am contacting you to enlarge information about our sensors and
meters.
We are manufacturers of sensors for many products types. I'll just
speak about soil sensor and the most important characteristics of our meters and controllers.
Soil sensor (SH-3):
Our fixed soil moisture sensor, is made in plastic cover and two
models: tubular and rectangular.
Dimensions of these covers are approx. diameter 3O-35mm and height
45mm. Inside this cover are the electronic circuit board and metalics electrodes mounted on the internal wall of the cover, that transmit a signal to the exterior(soil). Plug-in cable go out of the sensor for connect it to the portable meter or meter/controller.
There are some important points to consider:
- Due to the signals type emited by this sensor, the salts level
in the soil, is not important for the moisture determination. In other sensors the soil conductivity generate moisture measurement deviations.
- Hermetic plastic cover protects the electrodes and electronic board from the salts and the water, preventing internal damages. This sensor can be working into the soil for many years.
Portable meter and meter/controller (MI-7 & MIC-6):
All our portable meters and meters/controllers are
microprocessor based, with liquid cristal alfanumeric display, direct reading, automatic temperature compensation and the most important
is the calibrations programming function by means of standard samples. Before installing the sensor standard samples are needed in order to save the values in the no-volatil memory of the meter. At the moment of measurement, the meter builds the calibration curve for programmed product or soil, by interpolation of the samples values. Using this programming methode, is doesn't care whether the soil is sand or clay, because the calibrations that are saved in the meter memory, are made with samples of the same soil type of the zone where it has been installed.
Portable meters and meter/controllers have a no-volatil memory size of 70 calibrations or standard samples.
- Portable meter (MI-7):
Portable moisture meter also saves in no-volatil memory the 25 last measurements and has a connector for working with any moisture sensor in accordance with the product that measures.
RS-232 output for MI-7PC model is available and aditional PC software for saving measurements and calibrations in database. It is also possible to work on line, for example, with the grains sensor(save in database measurements automatically)
- Meter/controller (MIC-6):
MIC-6 is a continuos moisture meter and controller, that can be
installed for just reading or controlling of different process in accordance with the connected moisture sensor.
Depending of the model the MIC-6 is provided with various moisture sensor
inputs and outputs on/off or proprortional type.
For irrigation control we use the MIC-6 with the soil
moisture sensor and on/off type output. With this version it is possible to program the device with two moisture levels for turning on / off the irrigation system.
Best regards,
Daniel J. Sanchez
