Sharon Case is an American TV actress and a former model. She was born on February 9 1971 in Detroit, Michigan, to an upper-middle class family. When she turned three, she and her family moved to Chatsworth, California. Case measures five feet seven inch tall, and is a Scientologist. When she was much younger, Case was fascinated by dancing instead of acting, and took up ballet and jazz dancing lessons – However, she has also dreamed to become an actress one day.
When she turned 17, Case and her family moved to Japan, where she took up modeling. She stayed there for six months before flying back to Los Angeles. It was there that she decided to pursue acting, instead of just becoming a full-time model.
Her acting career started in 1989, first appearing in theater productions such as The Wizard, Grease, and The Nutcracker. Later that year, she was offered the role of Dawn Winthrop on the ABC daytime soap opera, General Hospital. General Hospital is also known as the longest-running daytime soap opera in American TV history. In the show, Winthrop is the daughter of characters David Langton (played by Jeff Pomeranz) and Monica Quartermaine (played by Leslie Charleson). She works as a nurse and ends up falling in love with Ned Ashton, the son of Larry Ashton and Tracy Quartermaine, her mother’s sister-in-law.
After General Hospital, Case appeared in a couple of other TV programs, like Doogie Howser MD, and Beverly Hills 90210 (as Darla Dillon), Cheers, Valley of the Dolls (as Anne Welles), and Parker Lewis Can’t Lose (as Donna Sue Horton). In 1991, she officially made her film debut in the Peter Maris-directed Diplomatic Immunity, playing Ellen Hickel. 1992 saw Case’s return to television, appearing on the CBS crime drama Silk Stalkings as Bonnie Abigail West.
Another TV show that Case appeared in was in the popular CBS soap opera, As The World Turns. In this show, Case played Debbie Simon. The character of Simon only stayed in the show for one season – Meanwhile, the show itself lasted for over fifty four years.
In 1994, Case took the role that she is most known for – That of Sharon Newman in The Young and The Restless, a role that she is still playing up to this day. The Young and The Restless is another CBS soap opera, and has been on the air since 1973. Prior to Case, the character of Newman has been played previously by Monica Potter, and Heidi Mark – Both portrayals didn’t last for over a year. Sharon Newman has been described as a love interest for Nicholas Newman, played by Joshua Morrow. They have three children: Cassie, Noah, and Faith.
Case was previously married to businessman Sandy Corzine from April 2007, to November 2009. She also had a short-lived relationship with country singer, Jimmy Wayne. She has no children. Case is close friends with her The Young and The Restless co-star, Melody Thomas Scott, who portrays Nikki Newman. She is also pals with fashion designer Elif Inanc. Case is also active on the popular social networking site, Instagram.
In 2010, Case started her own jewelry line, POMP. She has always been so fascinated by fashion, which is what inspired her to create the label. POMP currently has 50 pieces of jewelry, all designed by Case and her friend, Elif Inanc. She has an estimated net worth of around three million dollars.
Rumor and Controversy
Is Sharon Case Leaving The Young and The Restless?
Rumors have continuously been swirling around regarding Sharon Case’s supposed upcoming departure from the long-running soap opera series, The Young and The Restless. Case has apparently been dealing with these rumors for a really long time now, which started after her character, Sharon Newman, divorced her husband Nick Newman (played by Joshua Morrow). People have concluded that since Nick was out of the picture, Sharon will no longer be provided with her very own storyline in the series.
Fortunately, we can all breathe a sigh of relief – Case has dismissed these rumors on Twitter, even claiming that there will be much focus on Sharon Newman in the next couple of seasons. Last September 7, Case celebrated her 21st anniversary on the show, which she joined in 1994.
